Ball Handling

Let's just cut to the chase. Since now you all have learnt the rules of netball, let's go for the tactical stuffs. Open your mind and your heart. This entry will only be focusing on the type of passing and how to do it.

Shoulder Pass: It is to throw the ball a long distance while throwing the ball hard, fast and direct. The ball is passed by using one hand behind the shoulder with elbow bent and weight on the back foot. The thrower then shifts the weight to the forward foot while moving the ball with their hand forward extending their elbow and releasing the ball as the elbow extends at shoulder height.

Chest Pass: Used because it ensures accuracy, both for long and short distance. It is executed by holding the ball at chest height with the passer having their elbow bent next to the body at chest high. The passer then moves the ball forward, extending their elbows forward while they step forward to release the ball.

Bounce Pass: Used when a player is in a confined space with limited passing options and to move the ball around an opponent. It is done by getting low to the ground, holding the ball with one or both hands at hip height and stepping forward while releasing the ball. It should be aimed low at the ground and released with great deal of force.

Lob Pass: To pass the ball for a catcher who is stretching to get away from defender. It is executed by throwing the ball in a high arc with the ball initially being held behind the head and being released above the head.
Drop Pass: Similar to lob pass but have a major difference with the catcher. It is to pass for a catcher who will move into free space to receive the ball.

Overhead Pass: Executed similarly to the two-handed pass. The difference is that it is executed over the passer's head. It is done overhead instead of shoulder height.
